We’ve got an announcement!

As part of our Bethesda Game Studios Creations launch, we are making broad improvements to our website and content uploads.

We have a full breakdown below, including an update on our upcoming wiki overhaul.

Website Revamp

Visual overhaul – We’ve redesigned the website to help with content discovery, and better showcase official features.

“Like” system – The current 5-star rating system is being replaced with “Likes,” to better reflect how this system is used and reduce trolling.

Social Sharing improvements – Sharing content links will now include an image and description text.

Description changes – Content descriptions now support markup formatting and hyperlinks. These formatting additions are only applied when viewing a mod profile on the website, not when reading mod descriptions in-game.

Content Uploads

Multi-platform profiles – It is no longer necessary to upload and maintain several separate pages when uploading your content for multiple platforms. A single profile can support Xbox, PC or PlayStation, even if different binary files are required.

Drafts – Updates and changes to your creation can be made and tested without publishing.

Improved Management UX – Media and metadata are now easier for authors to update and edit.

Play Stats – A Creation's “Play” stat increases each time the Creation is loaded into gameplay, to better represent the popularity of fan favorite Creations.

Category Consolidation – We have simplified the category system, combining some and removing a small number. There is also now a limit of five selected categories for your creation, to focus these on the categories most pertinent to a piece of content and reduce broad category spam.

Creation Kit Update – We have several additional improvements coming to the Skyrim Special Edition Creation Kit, detailed in the patch notes.

Editor Wiki Upgrade

All BGS Editor Wikis have moved to new software – The Skyrim and Fallout 4 Creation Kit wikis, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas GECK wiki, and the Oblivion Construction Set wiki have all moved to a new platform powered by XWiki.

New accounts will be required – We could not migrate accounts, including most account details. It will be necessary for folks to register a new account to interact with the wiki. Please note, when setting up an account, what you set for your first and last name will be publicly displayed.

All pages migrated – Content remains available on the new platform. As we couldn’t maintain account details, authorship of pages (including notes in talk pages) could not be preserved. Neither could page edit histories. However, content on the pages themselves was migrated completely.

Editing will initially be locked as we settle in – When the new wiki launches, it will start in a restricted state. We’re working to establish a safe editing system that won’t suffer from the abuses of the old wiki. This will take time, and we’ll be starting small, and expanding over time. If you’re interested in helping out, check out the Wiki channel of the official BGS Discord.
