Creator Spotlight – Elianora
Elianora arrived early to the Creation Club scene ready to give players a refreshing aesthetic for their Fallout 4 Settlement and a new place to call “home” in Skyrim.
To celebrate the release of the latter, we spoke with her about her creations and her process.
You’ve released two creations so far – the Home Décor Workshop Pack and Tundra Homestead. Why did you choose these ideas for your initial proposals?
One thing I, and many other Fallout 4 players love, is building settlements, and getting new workshop items to add to those settlements. I wanted to make something I’d enjoy having in my own game, that would plop into the world and feel like it fit in.

For Skyrim, the choice was pretty clear. I adore small player homes, and I love making them. I knew that with Bethesda’s help and Creation Club, I could take one of my houses “to the next level.” Which we have! Tundra Homestead has the adoption system working in the house and the unique display script implemented into the vanilla game that even modders can take advantage of!
What have you enjoyed most about building these creations?
Learning new things! I am one of those extremely excitable people who get great joy from skill-related discoveries and finding new, better ways to do things. That’s one thing that always really kept me going when I was making mods, and it turns out, Creation Club is an even better learning experience!

One benefit of signing up to be a Creator is that I get a license to 3D Studio Max. I never knew how to make collisions for items before, or know the best practices on implementing changes to the world. Slowly learning how to use 3D modeling programs and getting to know technical details about the games has been really interesting. Constantly getting more skilled at modifying assets and the games themselves makes me a better modder too. Now when I make new mod content, it’s going to be more polished!
You’re an accomplished world designer, how do you generally go about making a home?
I like working with themes that Skyrim and Fallout 4 have to offer. Themes such as raider, mage, warrior, survivalist, etc. I get inspiration from a multitude of places, whether that’s something I see in-game like a location I find or an asset I discovered, or out in the real world. Basically, I take an empty cell and stare at vanilla locations for a while, then I start dropping items in and figure out what works and how to get it to look like I envisioned. It’s mostly all in my head.

I often nuke the entire thing, or at least parts of it, and start over if I’m not happy, but I barely ever do any sophisticated planning ahead. I try my best to make the interior match the exterior. At this point I also usually setup the basic lighting and ambience in the area.
When I get the basic layout ready, I’ll put in furniture and change things around more, often accommodating furnishings and decoration by changing the architecture around a little.
Finally, I fill the place with clutter. Preferably static! I hate when companions knock my beautifully placed decorations off the shelves. This is also the part where I add more lights and make the atmosphere better to give it the finishing touches.

What’s it like working alongside other Creators?
I won’t hesitate to say I’m a bit star-struck. There are so many amazing, talented and wonderful people all coming together in an enthusiastic, creative and supporting environment. It’s amazing meeting everyone and seeing their work. I hope in the future we can collaborate and make joint-projects. The work and quality these guys produce makes me try harder too, and thus makes me better at what I do as well.
What has been the biggest surprise as a Creator?
How amazingly Quality Assurance is handled. Can I just give a big, warm shout out to the QA team? You guys are superheroes. Truly some of the most underrated people in game development.
I know people often joke about bugs and glitches in games, but man, the quality assurance people are relentless. I didn’t even realize how much they have to put up with. They test things over and over, making sure they find every little gap in the architecture, every collision issue, every possible misplaced object or glitchy furniture marker. I am so grateful to the QA team.

What has been the highlight of working on Creation Club so far?
Gotta be honest, my favorite part is the interaction with the devs. Getting feedback, being able to improve my work based on it, finding the best ways to do things, and having the help and support of the people who made these games has been an incredible experience for me. It’s surprising to me how much fun we have and how friendly and passionate everyone is!
So thank you for giving me this opportunity. I don’t quite have words for how much this all means to me, I’ve truly enjoyed being a part of it.
