Fishing comes to Skyrim!

Catch, cook or keep several new and existing fish!

Scattered across Skyrim are new fishing spots, signified by a bucket of bait and related accoutrement. They can be found everywhere from lakes and streams to the ocean shore, and even deep underground!

Many fish prefer a specific type of environment but there’s always something to catch at these spots provided you have a fishing rod with you. Fish long enough, and you may even pull up a long-lost treasure…or long-lost boots.

Once you catch them, what can you do with them?

All of the new fish can be cooked, which is especially useful if you’re playing in Survival Mode. Fish can also be used as alchemy ingredients, with many interesting new combinations to keep alchemists occupied!

Alternatively, you can keep your fish by building aquariums at any of the Hearthfire homes or mounting them for display!

A Dash of Adventure

Head down to the Riften Docks and you can pick up a variety of jobs around the Fishery. Swims-In-Deep-Water has a lot he can teach you about fishing, and the Redguard Viriya is an excellent source for fishing orders and even some special requests. There are some potent rewards for a skilled angler, from gold to artifact like the Fang of Haynekhtnamet.

We’ve wanted to bring Fishing to Skyrim for a while and we’re excited at its upcoming release. Fishing will be free for everyone starting November 11 with the release of Skyrim Anniversary Edition. More information can be found here.
