The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR & Skyrim for Nintendo Switch – Now Available
From the first time we tried VR to the first time Nintendo showed us the Switch, we immediately dreamt about how our worlds would feel on those devices.
As luck would have it, both are arriving on the same day, and while Skyrim is a game so many of us all know, it’s new again. In VR, you’re finally there. The scale feels real. Our approach wasn’t a nerfed down experience, but the whole game. And then with Switch, we finally had a Nintendo device we could sink our teeth into – one that could provide not only a big screen experience, but one you could take anywhere; that became more intimate to you, the player. Huge thanks to all our developers, external partners, and the great people at Sony and Nintendo.
We can’t wait to hear about your new adventures in Skyrim.
Skyrim VR
Tips and Tricks
We wanted to provide a few tips for those jumping into Skyrim VR on PlayStation VR to help you get started on your adventure:
- Please note that for all PlayStation VR titles, you must face the PlayStation VR camera, so the console can track your movement and hands.
- Skyrim VR can be played with either the PSVR MOVE controllers or with the PS4 DualShock controller.
- The game includes BOTH teleportation and direct movement options and various settings to cater to your comfort level. The game will default to Teleportation movement but simply go into the Main Menu -> Gameplay Settings -> VR -> Movement and switch to your preferred option. There are other settings as well in the VR menu that can be adjusted to whatever you prefer, including display vignetting, dominant hand selection, and more.
- PS Move Motion Controllers: Free movement happens when pressing the Move button (the large button on the Left Motion Controller) and pointing in a direction. Turning is the right motion controller “X” or “O” buttons.
- DualShock Controller: The DualShock will work just like it does in the original PS4 version with one exception – camera movement isn’t allowed with the right stick, instead it’s done via the VR headset and the right stick controls turning.
- With the PlayStation MOVE controllers, you can now attack multiple targets simultaneously using Magika. Each hand has 360 degree full range of motion, and can operate independently of the other hand.

- The Skills and Map menus are now a 360 degree experience. You can be in the center of the heavens with the constellations orbiting around you as you level up, or stand like a giant in the middle of the Skyrim map and fast travel to your favorite location.
- You can use the PlayStation MOVE controllers for abilities like melee and ranged combat – firing a bow and arrow, using sword and shield, even abilities like swimming. The game also allows you to sprint, use stealth, and even use ride on horseback to move through the world.

Skyrim Switch
amiibo Support
Skyrim Switch has amiibo support! All Zelda-themed amiibo will offer in-game food, gems, gold, weapons and armor, including Link’s iconic outfit and the Master Sword. The items will vary depending on which amiibo you use. In addition to these rewards, the supported amiibo also offer a chance that you get one of the three Zelda-themed items.
Don’t have Zelda-themed amiibo? You can also access The Legend of Zelda-themed gear in a treasure chest found at the top of The Throat of the World location.

Fully Localized Voice Packs
For players in Europe, fully localized VO packs will need to be downloaded separately. The game will check the system language and if it’s French, Italian, German, Spanish or Russian, you will be prompted to download the free optional voice pack from the eShop. Otherwise, English voices are the default.
